Serbian Painters - Tribute to America

U.S. Ambassador in Belgrade Michael Kirby opened in Belgrade late on Monday the exhibition entitled ‘The U.S. – from Serbian artists to the U.S.’ and expressed the belief that Serbia has a bright future, having in mind the quality and imagination of young Serbian artists.

Kirby said that during his mandate as the ambassador in Serbia, he had a chance to meet a rather large number of talented young people.

.

The exhibition in Belgrade’s Youth Centre presents the works of 25 painters from Serbia who were inspired by the U.S. and the ties between Serbia and the U.S., and it represents a visual reflection of Serbian artists’ opinions and impressions of the U.S.

The exhibition will be open in Belgrade until August 19. As the founder of the art colony KOLUT Mandic, Milos Mandic stated that the exhibition, organised with the support of the U.S. Embassy, has already been displayed in five Serbian cities, and added that after Belgrade, it will be presented in four more cities.

Izložba slika “Srpski slikari Americi” u Domu omladine

Emmanuel

The Only Begotten and Firstborn among Many Brethren

by Bishop Athanasius Yevtich

In Emmanuel, the second anthology of Bishop Athanasius' articles to appear in English, His Grace explores themes of Orthodox Christology, Soteriology, Ecclesiology, and Gnoseology. How can we know Who God is? How can we know who we are, as human persons created in His image and likeness? How can we become one with Him? Bishop Athanasius examines these and other foundational questions in depth in this volume, drawing from a wealth of Scriptural and patristic sources. In discussing diverse theological subjects, he always returns to his overarching theme: the communion that man can have with God through Jesus Christ the God-man, within Christ's Church and above all in the Holy Eucharist. His exquisite and unique way of engaging the reader in mutual dialogue, with the living Eucharistic experience permeating his every thought, instills in the reader a burning desire for that communion.
