Janko Nikolich-Zugich received his MD from Belgrade University Medical School in 1984, subsequently receiving an MSc and a PhD in Immunology from the same University. Dr. Nikolich-Zugich worked from 1987 to 1990 as a Research Associate at the Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation in the laboratory of Dr. Michael J. Bevan, FRS, NAS, HHMI. In 1990, he joined the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York as the Head of both the Flow Cytometry Core Facility and the Laboratory of T Cell Development. He served as an Assistant Professor (1990-1996) and an Associate Professor (1996-2001) at both the Cornell University Graduate School of Medical Sciences and the Division of Molecular Medicine in Cornell University School of Medicine.

Jelena Vuckovic is a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Ginzton Laboratory at Stanford University, where she leads the Nanoscale and Quantum Photonics Lab. She received her PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in 2002, and M.Sc. and Diploma in Engineering degrees from Caltech and University of Nis, Serbia, respectively. Upon graduation from Caltech, she has held the following positions at Stanford University: a postdoctoral scholar (January-August 2002), an acting assistant professor (August-December 2002), an assistant professor (January 2003-August 2008), an associate professor of electrical engineering with tenure (September 2008- January 2013), and a professor of electrical engineering (since February 2013).

Dimitrije Mita Postich, a resident of Portola Valley since 1972 and widowed since 2011, died peacefully on the 27th of April, 2013.  Dimitrije was born on the 15thof July, 1932 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia where he grew up, later attending the University of Belgrade where he earned his master’s degree in Electrical Engineering in Telecommunications and Electronics in 1957.  Dimitrije immigrated to the United States in 1959 at the age of 27 to join his mother, Mirjana, and father, Milivoj Postich.

• Professor Simic studies the ethnography of Europe, with a focus on the Balkans and Eastern Europe. His research centers on ethnicity, nationalism, and post-Communist society with particular emphasis on former Yugoslavia. His other specialties include the study of American ethnic groups, cross-cultural gerontology, and visual anthropology.

Dolores Bozovic received her PhD in Physics in 2001, from Harvard University, on electron transport in carbon nanotubes. She then completed postdoctoral training at Rockefeller University, from 2001-2005, in a Sensory Neuroscience laboratory. From 2005 to the present, she was Assistant and then Associate Professor at the Department of Physics and Astronomy and the California NanoSystems Institute, at University of California Los Angeles.

Dr. Ivan Bozovic is Group Leader at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, New York, USA. Previously he was the CTO of Oxxel, Germany, a Senior Scientist at Varian Research Center, Palo Alto, California, USA, and the Head of Physics Department and professor at University of Belgrade, Yugoslavia (where he got his PhD in 1975). He was also a Visiting Professor or Scholar at Stanford University, Yale University, University of California at Berkeley, University of Pennsylvania, Los Alamos National Laboratory, University Notre-Dame in Namur, Belgium, and Ecole Superieure de Physique et Chimie Industrielle in Paris, France.

Tihomir Novakov, Ph.D, known also as Tica Novakov (born March 16, 1929) is an American physicist. As a scientist, Novakov is known for his black carbon, air quality, and climate change research.

After graduating from the University of Belgrade with a PhD in Nuclear Physics, he taught at the University of Belgrade and worked at the Vinca Nuclear Institute. Novakov immigrated to the United States in 1963 and began working as a research scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He later founded an Aerosol Research Group, which traveled the world conducting ground breaking research on climate change. Dr. Novakov is a distinguished member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
