Nikola Tesla

Nikola Tesla (July 10th, 1856 - January 7th, 1943) was a Serbian-American inventor and visionary genius. Tesla is recognized among the most accomplished scientists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His patents and theoretical work form the basis of modern polyphase alternating current electric power (AC) systems of motors, generators and transformers, with which he helped usher in the Second Industrial Revolution.

Mihajlo Pupin

Mihajlo Idvorski Pupin, Ph.D, LL.D. (October 4th, 1858 - March 12th, 1935) was a Serbian physicist, best known for devising means of greatly extending the range of long-distance telephone communication by placing loading coils (of wire) at predetermined intervals along the transmitting wire (known as pupinization).

Pupin was born in the village Idvor, Banat (then the Austro-Hungarian Empire) to a Serbian family. Pupin emigrated to U.S. when he was only 16.

Radivoje Živadinović

Radivoje Živadinović rodjen је 15. februara 1901. godine u Beogradu, gde је završio osnovnu školu i gimnaziju. Ро položenoj maturi 1919. godine i provedena dva semestra na Univerzitetu u Beogradu otišao је, krajem 1920, па Filozofski fakultet Uпiverziteta u Berlinu па nastavak studija. Na ovom fakultetu - odsek Hemija - odbranio је doktorsku disertaciju "Übеr imidoaether, imido- und oximidothiolaether" 1929. godine. Za suplenta gimnazije postavljen је 1931. godine i dodeljeп na rad kao asistent Tehnološkom odseku Tehničkog fakulteta u Beogradu.

Miroslav Marcovich, Professor Emeritus in the Department of the Classics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, was born in Belgrade on 18 March 1919. He died on 14 June 2001 at the age of 82. He is survived by his gracious wife Vera, whom he married on 30 May 1948 and who was to be the unfailing companion of the remainder of his life, and his son, Dr. Dragoslav (Michael) Marcovich, a chemist.

Dimitrije Djordjevic

Dimitrije Djordjevic, Professor of History, Emeritus, at the University of California, Santa Barbara, member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Belgrade, died in Santa Barbara on March 5, 2009, one week after his 87th birthday.

Professor Djordjevic was one of the leading historians of Serbia and the Balkans in the 19th and early 20th century, a man of vast knowledge, held in great esteem in national and international scholarly circles. He was a founding member of the North American Society for Serbian Studies and its former President.

Founded in 2006 and named in honor of a first American born Orthodox priest, Fr. Sebastian Dabovic, a pioneer of the Orthodox Church in the West, Sebastian Press is one of the largest and most active publishers of Christian Orthodox publications on the West Coast.

Our hard working staff seeks to fruitfully enrich and deepen the faith of Christians from all over the world with a variety of titles, embracing a diversity of Orthodox Traditions, while also presenting the works of Serbian theologians.

Sebastian Press is building its reputation for promoting high quality theological, historical, ecclesiastical, spiritual, hagiographical, iconographical, philosophical and patristic writings in its repertoire. Also, due to growing demand, we are giving special attention to the publishing of new titles for children, teens, and families, including video and audio programs.

The primary mission of Sebastian Press is to motivate and inspire its readers to seek a deeper union with the God-Man, through the written word of Orthodox Christian material, both on the scholarly and popular level, and to give glory to the life-giving Trinity.
